What is Magis?

Magis means “more” in Latin, but its meaning is much more subtle and profound than just more.

Not simply doing more, Magis is a philosophy of balancing awareness and action in our lives that is really about being more – more thoughtful, more driven, more humble, more confident, more ecstatic. Acting without awareness has no meaning and awareness without action has no impact, but when you merge awareness and action a synergy is formed that not only gives work purpose, but also makes work feel like play. It’s always easier to do your best work when you’re happy.

How can Magis help you

Magis implores us to live a life of curiosity and to look in new places to find inspiration for our work. When we’re open to this inspiration it helps us create more original designs that ultimately give our clients a more unique presentation. Striving to be more humble and more honest pushes us to create a more transparent relationship with our clients. We want you to know what the process is and we don’t want to charge you for superfluous services. Our notion of Magis also guides us to do right by those who have trusted us with their time and effort, so we always do our best to create a package with as many features as we can fit in for a reasonable price.

Technically, Magis can be translated as more. But, really, Magis means that translation is up to us.

Living With One Foot Raised

Magis as a term was coined by the Jesuits, who are an industrious and dynamic group, to say the least. We’ve put our own spin on what Magis means to us, but we loved their accompanying motto, “Living with one foot raised”, so much that we incorporated it into our logo.

Unfortunately, in the modern world the pursuit of progress is often associated by some with having a lack of values and having moral character is often confused with being afraid of progress. Living with one foot raised is a symbol that visually embodies the importance of keeping one foot steadily on the ground while the other is poised to push forward. We don’t think the two are mutually exclusive and, in fact, in an era in which we hardly have time to make sense of the next big thing, being able to balance the need to adapt with an adherence to timeless values is more critical than ever.
